Easy Peach Cobbler with Fresh Peaches
I first stumbled across this easy peach cobbler with fresh peaches when sorting through my grandma’s recipe box. Like many of the recipes, the card was so old and well-loved that it was difficult to read. However, once deciphered, the recipe became an instant favorite in my kitchen. A timeless dessert, every bite was rich, buttery, and sweet. Served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it always disappears immediately!

- Butter: I use unsalted butter, but you can use salted if preferred. Just reduce the amount of extra salt added to the dish. This forms the rich base, bubbling up as it bakes and infusing the cobbler with flavor. Opt for dairy-free butter if you need to keep your easy peach cobbler with fresh peaches dairy-free.
- Sugar: Granulated sugar sweetens the cobbler base, preventing it from tasting like a savory dough. It also enhances the natural sweetness of the peaches and contributes to the syrup-like consistency. I don’t recommend using an alternative sweetener, or the taste and texture won’t be the same.
- Flour: All-purpose flour forms the base of the cobbler. If needed, a 1:1 all-purpose gluten-free flour works, but I don’t recommend using wheat flour or any other flour alternative.
- Milk: I use whole milk for the richest flavor, but any dairy or plant-based milk works well. Use whatever you have on hand!
- Peaches: The star of the show! Use fresh peaches that have a sweet aroma and give just slightly when squeezed. Or, if peaches aren’t in season, use canned peaches. Just make sure to drain the juices super well to prevent your cobbler from becoming soggy.

How to Store and Reheat
I don’t recommend making this recipe ahead of time. The flour base won’t rise, and the peaches will become too mushy. However, you can store leftovers for later!
Once cool, cover the baking dish with aluminum foil. Or, transfer leftovers to an airtight container. They will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can also freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
Thaw frozen peach cobbler in the fridge overnight. Then, reheat leftovers in the oven at 350°F for 10-15 minutes or just until warmed through. Cover the cobbler with foil if the top begins to brown too quickly. You can also warm individual portions in 30-second increments in the microwave.

- 2 Large Mixing Bowls
- 1 (9×13 inch) Baking Dish
Ingredients
Cobbler Base
- ¼ cup + 2 Tablespoons butter salted or unsalted
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- Salt to taste about 1 teaspoon
- ¾ cup milk
Peach Topping
- 2 cups fresh peaches (about 4-5 large peaches) peeled and chopped
- ½ cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Grease a 9×13 baking dish, and set it aside.
- Melt the butter in the greased baking dish.¼ cup + 2 Tablespoons butter
- Whisk the remaining base ingredients in a bowl until well combined.¾ cup granulated sugar, ¾ cup all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, Salt to taste, ¾ cup milk
- Pour the flour mixture evenly over the butter. Do not stir!
- In a separate bowl, toss the peaches with sugar, coating them completely.2 cups fresh peaches (about 4-5 large peaches), ½ cup granulated sugar
- Scatter the peaches evenly over the flour mixture. Do not stir!
- Bake for 1 hour or until the batter is set and lightly golden.
- Cool slightly at room temperature, and enjoy as is or topped with vanilla ice cream!
